Following the previous Point on Scientific Research in Conservation Science from the inArt 2018 Parma conference [1]; and the Focus Point published from abstracts submitted to the postponed inArt 2020 [2], the journal European Physical Journal Plus (EPJ+) has agreed to host a new special issue (Focus Point) entitled Scientific research in Cultural Heritage 2022 dedicated to the work presented at the inArt 2022 conference.

Every submitted article will be subjected to the usual journal procedure of assessing the required relevance and novelty through peer-review.

The submissions will be performed directly on the European Physical Journal Plus submission system.

Details to select the proper Focus Point: In step 1 of the submission procedure: "Article Type Selection", it is needed to indicate "Regular Article" (the selection of the FP is done later). In step 2 "General Information: Select the Section or Category related to your manuscript", please select in the drop-down menu "Optics and physics of Cultural Heritage".

In step 5 "Additional Information", at the bottom of the page you have the question "Are you submitting this manuscript following an invitation to contribute to a "focus point"?". By selecting "Yes", the list of FPs appears and you should select "Focus Point on Scientific Research in Cultural Heritage 2022" to associate the article with the special issue dedicated to inArt 2022.

In order to allow authors to finalise their paper, a new extension for the deadline for submission is granted.

The deadline for paper submission is now 15th October September 15th, 2022.

Only papers (oral or poster) that have been presented at the conference by one of the authors will be accepted for this special issue.

Many papers have been scheduled for submission. The extension of the submission deadline to 15 October is the last deadline granted, only papers submitted before the deadline will be considered for publication. Beyond the deadline and the Focus Point of the conference, authors of presentations can still submit their papers to EPJ+ for publication outside the conference Focus Point.

The submission guidelines for EPJ+ are available on the EPJ+ website.

The guest editors for this special issue are:

 - Danilo Bersani (Università di Parma, Dipartimento di Scienze Matematiche, Fisiche e Informatiche, Parma, Italy).

 - Ludovic Bellot-Gurlet (MONARIS, Sorbonne Université/CNRS, Paris, France).

 - Delphine Neff (LAPA, IRAMAT/NIMBE, CEA/CNRS, Gif/Yvette, France).
